True story: When I was young, I drank a glass of bleach that was in the refrigerator. I know what you are thinking - why didn't I smell it first (and for one, who puts a glass of bleach in a refrigerator)? I had lost my yellow, one-eared tabby, Hatter, that day and had spent the whole day outside looking under bushes and ringing doorbells. I was heartbroken, exhausted, and dehydrated when I got home and a glass of "water" looked particularly good. Of course, it wasn't that great a half-hour later when my Mom was speeding to the emergency room and yelling at me for drinking bleach. I will stand by this conspiracy today - I was poisoned y'all.
Here are some of my favorite things, in no particular order: My family, my dog, Faith, random acts of kindness, reading in fuzzy socks (it is a vibe), I Love Lucy and The Golden Girls episode marathons, musicals, paper calendars (specifically, book-themed calendars are my secret joy), cheese fries (if I sit at a table and order fries as an entrée, don’t question it. The best things in life are simple), reading (did I mention this already?), God, inspirational and true-crime podcasts, meditation, running, adventures with my Hubby, warm weather, people who make me smile, and ladies who kick ass.
I am one of those people that are very influenced by documentaries. Case in point, I once went vegan (courtesy of Vegucated) while I put my dogs on a raw food diet (courtesy of Pet Fooled). Going vegan was hard, and particularly not healthy, I lived off of Oreos (milk's favorite cookie is indeed vegan) and fries. Giving up meat wasn't hard for me, but giving up cupcakes and ice cream was a struggle. Due to my unhealthy addiction to desserts, I opted for vegetarianism. Ten years later, I regret nothing.
I don't like soda, at all. Soda never appealed to me. To me, it was always a dark substance that tasted fizzy and not good at all. I once watched a video that showed people cleaning toilets and ovens with the fizzy substance. I never understood the appeal. But then again, this is coming from a lady who accidentally drank bleach - so there is that.
I have a slight speech impediment. I started speech therapy in kindergarten, after a misfortunate pronunciation of "ship" that found me in the principal's office. Folks, I had trouble with it all: R, Th, S, SH, P, and Z. My Mom used to tell me that I didn't start speaking until the age of three. I would often speak in whispers and when I did speak, my words seemed to go too fast and trip over themselves. My older sister became my translator, but I was content to live in a world of silence - for a while. That being said, it impacted my learning growing up and I was often taken out of class every week until my senior year in Highschool for speech therapy. All I had left to master was the "R" and while I was able to perfect refrigerator, there were a couple of words that alluded me. I was bullied mercilessly in high school with classmates sneering at me and asking me to say "Turtle" or "Purple" (while I conquered the majority of speech patterns and pronunciations the "UR" was my Mount Everest). I am proud of how far I have come and while there may be a rare slip-up here or a raised brow there, most people (hopefully) don't notice.
